Amelia Island Plantation Condos

As the Amelia Island condo market stabilizes, especially at Amelia Island Plantation, the most popular AIP MLS condo sales in 2011 have been at Beachside and Dunes Club. A total of six have sold. Sale prices at Beachside have ranged from $850,000 to $1,175,000 and at Dunes Club from $1,120,000 to $1,765,000. The highest sale prices have both been top floor units.

Beachside condos have been considered a good value because of their size compared to other Amelia Island condos, their age and proximity to the Amelia Island Club. Currently only a first floor Beachside condo is listed for sale and priced at $845,000. See details here.

Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort

Updated August 26, 2010: As expected the sale of Amelia Island Plantation to Omni Hotels was approved today.

The Omni Hotel owner is the winning bidder for the Amelia Island Plantation resort. TRT Holdings, owned by billionaire Robert Rowling who owns Omni Hotels as well as Gold's Gym and is according to Forbes on their 50 Wealthiest List in the U.S. with a net worth of $4.4 billion, was the successful bidder for Amelia Island Plantation.

The winning bid was $67 million and the plan is to operate the resort as an Omni Hotel property. According to Omni Hotels & Resorts they plan to take over full ownership and plan to add 125 guest rooms and suites as well as a new 16,000 square foot ballroom to accommodate additional meetings and events. Omni currently operates five golf resorts in the U.S.

TRT Holdings beat out Starwood Capital and Noble Investments to purchase the resort on the south part of Amelia Island.
